Mat-Su Health Foundation
In collaboration with the Alaska Broadband Task Force, Connect Alaska (www.connectak.org) is working to bring the benefits of universal broadband to the state. Technology, especially widespread access, adoption, and use of broadband, improves all areas of life. To identify gaps in coverage, support related funding requests, and facilitate discussions among stakeholders about how to improve and extend existing access, Connect Alaska is creating a detailed, interactive map of broadband coverage across the state.  This effort is funded by the federal government and requires us to collect information about broadband adoption at Community Anchor Institutions, including K-12 schools, universities, libraries, hospitals/emergency medical facilities, as well as public safety facilities such as state and local police and fire stations.
We are asking you to assist us with quickly gathering information about Internet access at the Mat-Su Regional Medical Center.  The survey takes less than 5 minutes to complete and provides a tool to measure the actual speeds of online connections.

We understand that you are very busy and thank you in advance for your time assisting us with this important state initiative.

United Way

United Way of Mat-Su is seeking nominations for the annual Dorothy A Jones Volunteer of the Year Award. The nominee must be a Mat-Su Borough resident who has made a positive difference in the areas of Education, Income  or Health through their volunteer activities.    This is a chance to recognize the many Valley residents who volunteer regularly and show  appreciation for the labor and time which they contribute to a multitude of worthwhile projects and organizations. A distinguished panel will select an individual to receive this award from among the nominees based on the length and breadth of their service.   All nominees will be honored and volunteers thanked at the Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon March 27th at the Glacier Canyon Grill.  Contact Cherie 373-5802 for information or to propose a candidate.

Valley Performing Arts
VPA’s Twelve Angry Jurors will keep you on the edge of your seats.  This tense drama depicts a jury forced by a single dissenting voiceinto extensive deliberation to decide the fate of a young man accused of fatally murdering his father.  The deliberations become very personal as they become acquainted with the personalities of their peers and the things that compel them to be less than objective in their assessment of the case and more than a little prejudice against the defendant.  Testimonies are re-examined, alliances are formed, tempers become short, arguments become heated, opinions get changed and changed again, personal experiences are revealed—and it all combines in volatility seeming ready to explode the jury room.
Twelve Angry Jurors is generously sponsored by Denali Law Group and Lead Dog Enterprises and runs February 10th through February 26th, Fridays and Saturdays 8pm and Sundays at 2pm.  Tickets cost $15 for youth/seniors and $17 for adults. For best seats, purchase tickets now by calling 373-0195 or online at www.valleyperformingarts.org
