Palmer Pride Picnic – SAVE THE DATE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

This community picnic is hosted by Palmer businesses, The City of Palmer, and the Palmer Chamber of Commerce, held July 24^th. Enjoy Palmer Pride hotdogs, farm fresh veggies, live music, a presentation of the Citizen of the Year award and beautification awards. Chamber to present resolution to City Council Tuesday, June 23rd

Sue Welton- President of the Greater Palmer Chamber of Commerce is to present the attached resolution at the June 23, 2009 City Council meeting, regarding the public hearing process in reference to the Railroad Tracks in Palmer. Please see attached resolution to read in its entirety.

*Note City Council member, Kevin Brown has informed us that he will be moving to table the railroad resolution until July, at this evenings City Coucncil meetings.

Tonight’s MEETINGS – June 23, 2009

Resolution No. 09-025: Requesting Authorization from the Alaska Railroad Corporation to Allow the City of Palmer to Remove the Railroad Tracks North of the Palmer Municipal Airport Spur and to Add the Mile and a Half of the Right-Of-Way Created by Removing the Tracks to the Current Transportation Corridor Permit. Has been place on the agenda for City Council's approval. This will also be the one and only Public Hearing.

MTA Annual Meeting

You are invited to MTA’s Annual Meeting Wednesday, June 10th at the Palmer Fairgrounds in Raven Hall. Registration, food and entertainment is from 5:30 – 7:00 pm. The food will be catered by the Alaska Job Corps Culinary Arts Students as their Senior Class Project. Food includes: marinated flank steak, coffee and chili rubbed pork loin, and more. Dessert is MTA Royal Blue Ice Cream from Matanuska Creamery. Children can enjoy fun projects with Mad Science and meet with Martin Buser. There will also be demonstrations of MTA High Definition TV, latest wireless phones and the MTA online directory. Be sure to bring your driver’s license to register and get your door prize ticket and vote for your board members. Colony Day - June 12th, 13th & 14th

"The Grotto Lunker returns"

The Return of the Grotto-Lunker...many still remember the days so many years ago when a dragon-like creature emerged from its icy mountain cave in Hatcher Pass. For those unfamiliar with the legend - let me fill you in. When the great ice fields moved through the Matanuska Valley, tens of millions of years ago, they left more than gravel deposits. They moved huge mounds of earth and carved our valley from ancient stone. In that time so long ago, a creature roamed the valley, a creature not found anywhere else on earth...the Grotto-Lunker. As the ice fields moved through, the Grotto-Lunkers were forced into mountain caves where they were trapped by advancing glacial ice. With the passage of time, the ice cov ering the caves became thin on the longest day of the year, and the Grottos were able to break through. The recent volcanic activity has once again awakened the Grotto-Lunkers and they will try to free themselves for the Colony Days Celebration, near the longest day of the year. Legend has it that the Grotto-Lunker is afraid of huge gatherings of fun people, so the Colony Days Festival was created to drive them back to their caves. Join us on June 12, 13 & 14 in downtown Palmer, Alaska for the return of the Grotto-Lunker and help us send them back to their caves in Hatcher Pass for another year.

Valley Performing Arts presents Anne of Green Gables

May 15/09—Jun 7/09 Marilla & Matthew Cuthbert make plans to adopt an orphan boy to help with chores on their farm, Green Gables. Upon arriving at the train station, Matthew finds instead Anne Shirley, a little redheaded orphan girl, waiting on the platform. There is no hiding Marilla’s dismay when she discovers the mix up, and accepts Anne only on a trial basis. At school, Anne feuds with Gilbert Blythe when he starts calling her Carrots and pulling her braids. Sensitive about her red hair, Anne smashes a slate over his head. Have you heard the news? Professional football is coming to the Valley? Games begin March

2010 The goal of the organization is to have the community involved and keep business local. For

Example: Special Olympics will be helping run the merchandise stand and receive a percentage of the

proceeds. Local High school football programs will be giving the opportunity to sell program books to

help fund their Programs. These are just a couple of ways we hope to build strong relationships within

the community as we introduce Professional Indoor Football to the Valley.

Hi, my name is Tara, the owner of NU-2-U FASHIONS, I have been selected to participate in the professional

Dance/Cheer Team. I will be not only representing Matsu Professional Football at The home games, but out in

the community as well. I am required to make a certain number of Appearances on behalf of the team as well as

volunteer my time in worthy organizations such as Special Olympics. Matsu Professional Football prides itself on
