Mat-Su Miners Inc. is a nonprofit, all-volunteer organization that brings top quality baseball to the Matanuska-Susitna Valley.
In addition to sponsoring the Miners, the organization offers clinics and other programs that nurture the growth of the great American sport of baseball.
Each year, volunteers from around the Mat-Su Valley
meet to plan the next year's season.

2008 Colony Days Updates

Final 2008 Bed Race Participants: GPCC, GWCC,   Palmer Elks Club, Midas, The Alaska Club, The Frontiersman, IBEW-MTA, and IBEW-MEA. Good luck teams! Races begin Friday, June 13th at 6:30 pm, catch the championship race Saturday, June 14th at 10:30 am. You don't want to miss this spectacle in Palmer!

RAWK! -- Paper -- Scissors--Which do you pick?

We say RAWK! Take a break from paper pushing, and give those office supplies a rest! Palmer Rocks - and so will you - on Saturday, June 14th from 7 pm until 10 pm at the Depot. Join us, as we showcase the local flavors of three great bands. Don't let the teens you know miss The Wildcat Trio, Bush Fire Riot, or Canis Lupus. Genre: Rockabilly and Classic Rock. All music fans welcome. Spread the word!  Special thank you to NEW CHAMBER MEMBER- Matanuska Music for assisting with our sound arrangements!
 

Say Man - Do you like Salmon? 

On a cracker, crumpet, or biscuit-- You don't want to miss it! The second annual Salmon GONE WILD smoked salmon contest is Saturday, June 14th at the Palmer Depot, from 11 am until 2 pm. Here is your chance to really test how WILD your favorite Salmon or Fish recipe really is.   Great prizes in a variety of catagories. To include: Judge’s Pick and Crowd Favorite. Still Time to Shine

Hurry! Just a few days remain to guarantee your place in the 2008 Colony Days Parade and the Bill Mitchell Fun Run, sponsored by MTA. Parade entries received after 5 pm  Thursday, June 12 may  not be included in the parade and will not be judged. Act fast-download forms by visiting the Palmer site at www.palmerchamber.org.

The 2008 Colony Days Trivia Contest, sponsored by AlaskaUSA will put your Palmer history memory to the test. Alaska Family Services Announcement 

Alaska Family Service s, with financial support from the Mat-Su Health Foundation, will be presenting Lighten Up, a summer solstice celebration on June 21st in downtown Palmer. AFS is promoting a celebration of families through healthy living in the Mat-Su Valley. The agency will have carnival booths with games and prizes for the kids. Vendors will have food and items for sale. Headlining the musical program is Medicine Dream playing at 6 pm. Other music, storytellers, and entertainment will also occur throughout the day from3 -10 pm. Please come and celebrate your family with AFS. For more information call 746-4080.

Palmer Arts Council Announcement
 
The Palmer Arts Council, Palmer, AK has received a Mat-Su Health Foundation Grant for $10,000 which will go towards funding the Summer Youth Art Programs for 2008. These programs will be for children and teens ranging in age from 7 to 17 years old.
 
Over the past two years Mat-Su Health Foundation has awarded a series of significant grants used to support programs operated by more than 70 non-profit organizations active in the Mat-Su Borough. “The Mat-Su Health Foundation is actively working to strengthen key organizations and important services which make a significant positive impact in the health and wellness of Mat-Su Valley residents,” commented CEO Vince Curry. For more information about the Mat-Su Health Foundation, please visit their website at www.matsuhealthfoundation.org. The Palmer Arts Council would like to thank the Mat-Su Health Foundation for their financial support and for recognizing the positive and healthy impact we will make on the lives of the children of our community.

Valley Performing Arts summer arts program focuses on the three areas of musical theatre: dancing, singing, and acting. At the end of the activity-filled, two week program, students will perform on stage for their friends and family! The cost is $150.00 per student. Choose your own session!
